Vigo County Options for Police, Fire and EMS Scanners.
The Indiana State Police and many other agencies have switched to the statewide Safe-T digital 800 MHz. trunked radio system. The system can be monitored with several models of digital police scanners. Many counties and cities statewide use the Safe-T system as well.
Counties that do not use the Safe-T system use a variety of trunked and conventional systems. Marion County (Indianapolis) uses an analog Motorola trunked system that can be monitored with a trunktracking scanner, several other counties use either EDACS or Motorola systems or VHF conventional (non trunked systems.
A digital trunking scanner is required for Vigo County, Indiana, including Terre Haute. County Sheriff and Fire operations as well as West Terre Haute PD operate on the SAFE-T APCO25 digital trunked system. Terre Haute and other agencies in the area us the Terre Haute EDACS trunking system. Some local and fire operations can be heard with a basic police scanner.
