Dayton Options for Police, Fire and EMS Scanners.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol and many other agencies have switched to the statewide MARCS 800/700 trunked radio system
The system can be monitored with several models of digital police scanners. Some counties and cities statewide use the MARCS system as well.
Other Counties use a variety of trunked and conventional systems. Areas around Cleveland, Cincinnati and Columbus often use a variety of Motorola and EDACS trunked system that can be monitored with a trunktracking scanner, several other counties use conventional (non trunked) systems that can be monitored with a basic police scanner.
A trunktracking police scanner is needed for many county and local Police, Fire and Ambulance radio communications in Montgomery County, Ohio, including Dayton. A Motorola trunking radio system is used by most County and many local operations, others operations may be heard with a basic police scanner.
To monitor the Ohio State Highway Patrol and other state agencies a digital trunking scanner radio is needed as they operate on the statewide MARCS 800/700 trunked radio system
