Cheyenne Options for Police, Fire and EMS Scanners.
The state of Wyoming started implementing a statewide digital radio communications system named WyoLink. The system was designed to coordinate and integrate comminucations between state, local and federal public safety agencies. The system became operational on December 31, 2007 and most of the counties are exclusively using the system. There are a few counties that scheduled to come online in 2009.
The Highway Patrol uses a conventional VHF radio system that can be monitored by police scanner from low to high end, but, also has the ability to use the WyoLink digital system when necessary.
We highly recommend a digital police scanner to monitor this state.
Public Safety agencies in Laramie County, Wyoming, including the city of Cheyenne, operate on the WyoLink APCO-25 digital trunked radio system. A digital police scanner is required to monitor this county.
